Summary: Stitches is the true story of David Small's (the author's) life. David's parents were cold and cruel, but perhaps the cruelest thing they did was ignore the growing bump on David's neck. This growing bump (perhaps a result of his father's medical testing) turned out to not only be cancerous but the necessary surgery took his voice box. That means that David actually lost his voice. Small's pictures are creepy, grotesque, fascinating, and tell a deeply depressing story. Awesome graphic novel!
