Looking for a good book to read?

Looking for a good book to read? You found the right place! I love Young Adult Literature and love recommending interesting titles to my students even more. This blog will recommend titles of YA Literature that I have recently read and want others to discover as well. Enjoy! Under each post is the "Comment" option. Feel free to share your opinions about each of the books so that other students can read your opinions as well.

You might have noticed the recent makeover each of the posts got. I rearranged the posts so that the summaries are hidden. If you are curious about a book and want to know more about it, click on "Read more >>", the summaries are hidden there for more information. Have fun!

  • You get frustrated by technical words as you read, even if they are used infrequently.
  • You are impatient with books that start out slowly.
Fun Fact #1:  I didn't even read this book.  I had someone whose opinion I totally trust read it for me and help me add it to the blog.  Just one reason I love my mom.
Summary:  Terra doesn't want to stand out; all she wants to do is finish school and move to a prestigious art college a long way from home.  Unfortunately, she stands out more than most people because of the large, dark birthmark that covers half her face.  To make matters worse, her dad is domineering and refuses to pay for his daughter to attend the college of her dreams.  On an icy night, her path crosses (literally, she runs into his car) Jacob's, an adopted Goth boy from China.  Coincidentally, Terra's and Jacob's families end up traveling to China together.  Jacob, who has a visible scar from a cleft palate, begins to open Terra's eyes about what beauty is, encourages her goals, and helps her accept herself.
