Looking for a good book to read?

Looking for a good book to read? You found the right place! I love Young Adult Literature and love recommending interesting titles to my students even more. This blog will recommend titles of YA Literature that I have recently read and want others to discover as well. Enjoy! Under each post is the "Comment" option. Feel free to share your opinions about each of the books so that other students can read your opinions as well.

You might have noticed the recent makeover each of the posts got. I rearranged the posts so that the summaries are hidden. If you are curious about a book and want to know more about it, click on "Read more >>", the summaries are hidden there for more information. Have fun!

The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod

Title: The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod: Eighth Grade Bites
Author: Heather Brewer
Genre: Fantasy

Thank you to Jared K. and Gwen S. for this book recommendation!  Jared told me about it, Gwen wrote about it in one of her Reading Responses, and I picked it up from the library shortly afterward.  Vlad definitely lives up to the reputation Jared and Gwen set for him.  Thanks Jared and Gwen!!!

You will like this book if:

  • You like to read vampire books.
  • You prefer books that are mysterious.
  • You enjoy when characters aren't always what they seem.
  • You like a lot of action in the books you read.
  • You want to read a book that is a fast, easy, and enjoyable read!
You won't like this book if:
  • You like when there are a lot of girl characters in books.
  • You prefer to read books that are realistic.
  • You don't like to use your imagination as you read.
  • You like books that are serious.
Fun Fact #1: Imagine this book as a combination between Harry Potter and Twilight, expect without the wizards and without the romance.

Fun Fact #2: There is a whole series of Vladimir Tod books (as you can tell from the picture).  I have only read the first one, but I can't wait to keep reading the series.  So if you like the first one, keep going and read the rest!
Summary: Vladmir Tod has always known he was the child of a vampire; there is something about needing to drinks bags of stolen blood to survive that gives it away.  Five years after his parents' mysterious death, strange things start happening around Vlad that make him worry that his hidden identity won't stay hidden for very long.  A creepy substitute teacher rules into town and seems to ask exactly the right questions and knows a little bit too much about Vlad.  Could this new teacher be hunting Vlad?
