Looking for a good book to read?

Looking for a good book to read? You found the right place! I love Young Adult Literature and love recommending interesting titles to my students even more. This blog will recommend titles of YA Literature that I have recently read and want others to discover as well. Enjoy! Under each post is the "Comment" option. Feel free to share your opinions about each of the books so that other students can read your opinions as well.

You might have noticed the recent makeover each of the posts got. I rearranged the posts so that the summaries are hidden. If you are curious about a book and want to know more about it, click on "Read more >>", the summaries are hidden there for more information. Have fun!

  • You like books that take place in the "near future".
  • You have felt a difference between people that have money and people that don't.
  • You are interested in boats and/or sailing.
  • You have respect for books that win awards.
You will not like this book if:
  • You like to read books that are very realistic.
  • You don't like books with a lot of violence.

Summary: This book definitely does NOT take place in modern time, but could the world this book takes place in be ours in the near future?  Nailer lives in a time where the oceans have been polluted, entire cities in the South have been wiped out with flooding, and scrap metal keeps food on families' tables.  Nailer has it rough: his mother is dead, growing could get him fired from his job, and his dad is a drugged out maniac.  But one day he stumbles upon a "Lucky Strike" that could change his life forever.  However, making sure that his life is changed for the better, instead of making it worse, requires new friendships and dangers.
