Looking for a good book to read?

Looking for a good book to read? You found the right place! I love Young Adult Literature and love recommending interesting titles to my students even more. This blog will recommend titles of YA Literature that I have recently read and want others to discover as well. Enjoy! Under each post is the "Comment" option. Feel free to share your opinions about each of the books so that other students can read your opinions as well.

You might have noticed the recent makeover each of the posts got. I rearranged the posts so that the summaries are hidden. If you are curious about a book and want to know more about it, click on "Read more >>", the summaries are hidden there for more information. Have fun!

Marcelo in the Real World

Title: Marcelo in the Real World
Author: Francisco X. Stork
Genre: Contemporary Realistic Fiction

You will like this book if:
  • You are interested in learning more about Asperger's Syndrome.
  • You think that you might consider something in the law field for a future occupation.
  • You are a music buff.
  • You understand that parents aren't perfect.
  • You are fascinated by stories of broken trust and corruption.
You will not like this book if:
  • You like books with a lot of physical action.
  • You don't care about law.
  • You want all endings to be happy and neat.
Summary:

Marcelo's father thinks that he needs a taste of the real world.  Marcelo does not agree.  He has Asperger's Syndrome and feels very safe at his school for children with similiar educational needs.  In order to finish out his senior year at that school, Marcelo must work at his father's law firm for the summer.  There Marcelo meets new people that introduce him to all things that are "real": corruption, love, and questionable loyalty.  I loved how honest Marcelo's voice was as he told his story!
