Looking for a good book to read?

Looking for a good book to read? You found the right place! I love Young Adult Literature and love recommending interesting titles to my students even more. This blog will recommend titles of YA Literature that I have recently read and want others to discover as well. Enjoy! Under each post is the "Comment" option. Feel free to share your opinions about each of the books so that other students can read your opinions as well.

You might have noticed the recent makeover each of the posts got. I rearranged the posts so that the summaries are hidden. If you are curious about a book and want to know more about it, click on "Read more >>", the summaries are hidden there for more information. Have fun!

The Adoration of Jenna Fox

Title: The Adoration of Jenna Fox
Author: Mary E. Pearson
Genre: Science Fiction

You would like this book if:
  • You like to read books that are mysterious.
  • You liked House of the Scorpion.
  • You like to read books that make you think about them when you finish reading.
  • You have ever wondered how medicine and technology effect our lives.
You wouldn't like this book if:
  • You don't want to wonder as you read books.
  • You have no interest in the future.
Fun Fact #1: It took a while for me to find any science fiction qualities in this book, in fact, I was beginning to be convinced that this book didn't have anything to do with science at all.  Sometimes readers shy away from science fiction because they worry that it will be over their heads (I know I do!).  However, once these details appeared in Adoration I found that they were explained well and I wasn't discouraged by the "science" in the book.  Actually, it left me with a lot to think about!

Fun Fact #2: UPDATE!!!  I just heard that a sequel to this book is being released at the end of August.  It is going to be called The Fox Inheritance and supposedly takes place 260 years after the first one ended.  Hmmmm...sounds interesting.  Stay tuned!

Summary:  One day Jenna Fox wakes up from a year-long coma and remembers nothing about the life she lived before.  She accepts that, but there are some pieces to the puzzle that don't fit, like knowing strange historical facts or being able to recite long passages of literature.  Jenna begins to discover more and more things that don't add up and begins to worry that her family is keeping a big secret from her.
